I will say that the game is indeed polished after these 11 years..I still need to get back up to RTS speed but it is refreshing to play a well made PC game..

It's not the usual kind of thing that makes it to MFO's front page, but I found this to be an interesting and thought provoking read, and knowing our members, I think you'll agree!

In other news, the intellectuals among us (sadly I am not one of them) have won ANOTHER chess tournament, details in this #post. They really are a great bunch of guys, and they've been very patient with me as I've tried to learn the game. Its a great atmosphere to try and learn in, if you're interested!

Torchlight is officially live today. The ARPG made from Runic Games has a lot of similarities to the Diablo series since it was developed by some of the same guys.  You will definitely find they share the same music composer (Matt Uleman) so the first thing you notice is that the beginning town sounds eerily familiar.  The game plays practically the same as Diablo as you have similar mechanics as well as the usual skill trees, stat distribution, and a ton of loot. You are given the choice of three character classes as well as a choice of a pet.

  If you like Diablo, it's definitely worth checking out.  Plus, it's only $19.99
