Aircraft Attacks  Reply to this Post

So in a recent TE war campain, I had the following report.

To: jesuskitten    From: badbigwlly    Date: 4/13/2010 12:02:59 AM

Subject: Aircraft Dog Fight Report

Message: A fighter aircraft dog fight has just occurred against your nation by badbigwlly. In the attack you lost 1 fighter aircraft and destroyed 28 fighter aircraft launched by badbigwlly. Any existing peace offers that were on the table have been automatically canceled.

Now I know my fighters are all over the level of his fighters, I pushed in 40 lvl5 aircraft into the battle and came out way behind. What gives? What should I have done differently?

There is a defensive bonus, and aircraft battles can be really lopsided like that. Let's just see if it happens time after time.

It was just interesting to me that the dog fights produced such poor results on my end, I think I need to figure out whats the best way to handle that defensive bonus Very Happy Maybe next time just not attack at all with aircraft and have them sit there and take damage? As far as the formula goes, I am not sure if tech is involved or not but I believe there was more tech on my end of the table, though after all the fighting this round I am sure that will be going towards other nations victory over my mistakes Wink

Could it be that your aircraft when are attacking are at a disadvantage because your fighting in enemy airspace where his airforces can easily attack due to having them have radar and possibly ground forces attack your aircraft. Okay that sounds unclear to you. I'll use history as an example the battle of Britian RAF ahd the advantage due the radar stations along the coast which detected oncoming axis aircraft. Allowing fighter command to scramble aircraft to intercept the oncoming airforce. Also German fighters could only flying British airspace in the south for only 15mins before they had to fly back home. If not use numbers to overwhelm him. Another historic example the stragtic bombing campain 1941-1945 over europe. The part I want to interest you in is the amercian effort to deploy huge numbers of mustag fighters to combat the german airforce and protect bombing runs on germany. Also the mustag was a better technologcal fighter it was of an better fighter than the Messmite109 and the Fock wulf 190 which were first generation monoplanes.

I don't think Cybernations is that in depth. I'm sure the creator(s) is smart, but probably not that smart.
